TISSTA Elections - 2024-26

This is an announcement for election of TISSTA Executive Committee members for a period of two years,  2024 to 2026. 

Elections will be conducted via a google form and care has been taken by the present EC and Returning Officer to ensure that the core principle of a secret ballot is maintained using this method for the election.

Tuljapur Chapter held elections in July 2024 and the new office bearers of the TISSTA Tuljapur Chapter are as follows:

About TISSTA

The TISS Teachers Association (TISSTA) aspires to be a forum for participatory deliberation and action of the academic staff of Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). Its role is to enhance the contribution of the academic staff towards promoting the vision, mission and objectives of TISS, which uphold social justice, equity, and secularism. 

In pursuance of the above, it has the following specific aims and objectives:

• To promote a democratic structure of governance and functioning within TISS.
• To promote institutional autonomy and an academic culture that supports discussion, intellectual and social engagement, critical thinking and freedom of expression.
• To advocate, secure, maintain and safeguard the rights and liberties of teachers.
• To coordinate and cooperate with other segments of the TISS community and teachers' organizations in other institutions. 
• To create new laws and policies that support the rights and responsibilities of teachers.
• To promote discussion and debate about the Indian higher education system, its challenges, and other issues that the association is working on.

The association is actively involved in working to improve the Indian higher education system and to support the rights and responsibilities of academic staff, both permanent and contractual. 

The Association is registered under the Trade Unions Act |Registration No. ALC/Est.17/11136 as of 10 April 2017. 

The Founder Member of TISSTA is Prof. Meena Gopal.
